Glaucoma has been estimated to affect 0.5% - 1% of the general population and it is hereditary.
The prevalence increases with age, an average of 2% in those that are 40 years and above.
Glaucoma is more common among the following demographics:
- Blacks.
- People with a family history of the disease.
- People suffering from Diabetes.
- People suffering from hypertension.
In these days, many therapies available which can help to prevent glaucoma and after getting treatment, people can get same vision as they had before.
